Welcome to The Autism Promise (TAP)

The Autism Promise was born out of a desire by the carers of two autistic boys to secure a future for them which, as far as possible, provides the same environment and level of care that any parent would want for their child.

Anyone who cares for a child with autism will at some point have to deal with the question of who will take care of them when the carer is no longer able to do so. The Autism Promise (TAP) is about a promise made to our boys that we would secure a home and someone to take care of them for the rest of their lives.

To this end TAP was established as a charity in January 2012.

Vision

To create a home where our children will be safe, supported and encouraged to be who they want to be; where their differences are respected and their abilities recognised and where time is taken to step into their world rather than expecting them to always come into ours.

Aims
  • To raise funds which will enable the purchase of a premises
  • To engage staff who share our vision
  • To provide respite care for children with autism up to age 19 years regardless of their ability to finance it
  • To provide life long supported living post education
  • To establish links with other like-minded people
